Large Format Film Photography Workshop in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Brothers’ 4x5 capture of student photographing subject on workshop location

Workshops are always an exciting endeavor. Being asked to participate and assist in the development and evolution of another’s creative process is an honor. To be able to pass along one’s own knowledge and see the growth in another over the course of a few hours or days, is extremely fulfilling, and very rewarding.

I captured this image of my recent workshop student photographing his subject on 4x5 with 4x5! Already an accomplished photographer in his own right, he had this to say about his experience...

“I highly recommend Cody's workshops without reservation. I had the privilege of participating in a one-on-one workshop with Cody, where we extensively discussed my shooting style and the objectives I hoped to achieve through the workshop. My primary focus was enhancing my skills in 4x5 photography and exploring the realm of landscape photography, which I hadn't previously focused on. Cody expertly tailored each day of the workshop to align with my specific goals and imparted invaluable knowledge about his workflow systems, resulting in a remarkable improvement in my overall efficiency.

The transformation in my comfort level behind the view camera since undertaking the course has been astounding. Cody's proficiency in processing black and white negatives is particularly noteworthy, as he operates his own Dip and Dunk lab. The ability to process my images alongside him and evaluate the negatives immediately after shooting, while everything was still fresh in my mind, proved to be an incredibly effective learning tool. Going forward, I am committed to entrusting my black and white film processing to Cody due to his meticulous attention to detail in adjusting my negatives during development and his insightful analysis of the final results.

I eagerly anticipate further opportunities to learn from Cody and have already begun planning to attend another workshop with him in the future. Whether you are aiming to refine your 4x5 photography skills, delve into the realm of black and white film photography, or even enhance your digital landscape photography, I cannot stress enough the importance of reaching out to Cody. His expertise and guidance are truly unparalleled.”
